Rainbows 'n Unicorns from Oslo, Norway

Rainbows 'n Unicorns from Oslo, Norway
to Colorado Springs, Colorado

or... a very well traveled Geisha Coffee, Esmeralda Geisha
from a Lot in Panama to Talor 'n Jorgen Coffee Roasters in Oslo, Norway
to me in Colorado, USA about 2 weeks ago Wednesday

thank you Talor Browne 'n cheap Int'l Shipping or I'd never tasted
this juicy lovely Esmeralda Geisha Coffee

nor would I have gotten to share it all around town, or I tried--but only so many beans to go 'round eh?!

250 grams of Party in a Box
Everyone marvels at the packaging
I am especially happy with it as I could afford to get it here
and I love the name of this part of the coffee subscription you can sign up for "Rainbows & Unicorns" - tho this is a OneOff Order, I am just as excited to get this mail delivered hardly a week after roasting... from a Wednesday roasting to a Saturday delivery the next week 'n then I started traveling around town to share it... not to mention have proper baristas/roasters brew it for the best tasting I could of hoped for--Oh my the Happy Taste Buds... eee...

1st stop on Colorado Springs, Colorado USA journey
for the Geisha...

visiting #LoyalCoffee #TylerHill in the roastery
'n of all the perfect times, when the 'other' Panama Geisha is in the house as well
a competition one from regionals just passed in Austin, TX

first I tried Tyler's Geisha as an espresso
then he made up two pourovers--with his Geisha 'n the Esmeralda Geisha
it was great fun to try them side-by-side 'n a Double Treat for the tastebuds
already seriously Happy Taste Buds, now Times Two!!

at the roaster was checking out the machines too, what use to be maybe just a spice grinder that's now so precious a coffee grinder that someone is considering carrying it with him to Finals in April hah?!

Link to watch Day Two for the Regionals in Austin, TX on Sprudge Live... scroll down to Tyler Hill's presentation to hear more about his coffee directly from him even...

where the coffeeshop 'n the barista/owner @thuhtyler Tyler Hill do well with Instagram Stories too!!

2nd stop for the traveling Geisha Coffee...
#PeakplaceCoffee 'n Nate the roaster for #HoldFastCoffeeRoaster

a Pourover again to pass around like to Vinnie or the 2 lucky barista girls in that day (sorry I'm so bad with names?!) 'n also he had a taste of the Int'l Wichteln Coffee from Germany to taste as a pourover also--a Kenia/Kenyan to compare to Nate's Kenyan that he took to Regional Competition in Austin, TX... but alas, no video, coz they only livestream the Barista's not the Roasters?!

so the Saturday before this it was Competition Tasting Day at both the local baristas who went to Regionals that are both going on to Finals as well as both local roasters who went with their Kenyans for Roasting or Cup Tasting was it? And the first year for this poor roaster to have to speak 'n present his roasted coffee to the judges (when in the past they've not had to do that?!) I hear that scoring was tight on the roasters, but now sure how the line-up went except for those going on to Finals (was it just 6? out of 30 maybe?!)

3rd stop of local Geisha journey...
yet again a comparison taste test, only this time w/a El Salvador Geisha
as a cupping (then followed with an espresso, mmm...)

with QGrade Roaster now Evan at #SwitchbackCoffeeRoasters next door to #FiftyFiftyCoffee or what use to be the name of the coffeeshop, now I think they've merged the name (not to be confusing?!)

and what a treat again to try these side-by-side
not to mention let the coffee play on someone else's tastebuds who can really enjoy it 'n describe it 'n knows their Geisha inside 'n out to compare the tastes well

this one I remember a certain taste note--peanuts/peanut butter that the other two Geisha's didn't have, so curious... when you think one Geisha would taste like another--No, No Way...

Link to Switchback Coffee Webpage 'n Facebook page - also previously known separately as Fifty Fifty Coffeeshop, think they've merged now so roaster 'n coffeeshop have the same name...

https://www.facebook.com/switchback.coffee.roasters/

4th, 5th, 6th stop I think for the lovely Geisha...
in order to catch the roaster 'n 2-3 or more Barista's hah?!

#BuildingThreeCoffee in #LincolnSchoolCenter

all 3 visits, a pourover--in order for everyone to try a taste 'n then not have a lot of waste (which I was lucky to have Evan dial in a first try espresso for a FAB u lous concentration of the juiciness 'n if any left over at the end of the rounds will return for One Last Espresso... sigh... if only there will be enough beans?!)

so let's see Sean, Katie, Taylor, Mark, Heather I think it was that all got a taste of the Esmeralda Geisha from Panama or aka Rainbows 'n Unicorns...

forgot to snap pics of all the Barista's or Roasters who tried the Geisha while she was traveling around town--sorry, forgive me y'all...

and look at her in the sunshine... ahh... needs to be glorious music... indeed--Rainbows 'n Unicorns...

and I think it was this third trip in that someone mentioned tasting notes of tea, when I'd gotten that comment from another barista also earlier... when mostly I always got the juicy notes, if not downright JuicyFruit Gum Juiciness like from when I was a kid 'n could still chew gum hah?!

'n yes, I know it's bad for you 'n was--not to mention for your teeth or jaws--but that's the juicy taste that comes to my mind.. even before some fruit taste, tho I've not tasted this gum since like Elementary/JrHigh/HighSchool or College--a lot of years ago hah?!

7th stop for the Geisha Girl 'n her Rainbows 'n Unicorns--OK, these may be out of order--but it's all about the Sharing eh?! As someone said along the way: Sharing is Caring 'n I absolutely adore 'n love this coffee community!! mwah kiss kiss to all the coffeeshops, roasters, baristas ox....

Look it's Eliza only not at Story Coffee Co tiny house by the time I tracked her down she was over here at Welcome Fellow where they serve Peakplace/HoldFast Coffee (that Yes, I had to try the new roast as well as the Geisha hah?!)

You can watch her also on Sprudge Live Day Two Austin, TX - only she didn't use a Geisha like Tyler Hill did from Loyal Coffee...

And for this Geisha she broke out the glassware--the EspressoParts Shot Glasses, loved it 'n Yes, coffee is yummier in glass or ceramic (no offense lil Keepcup of mine?!)

Link to Welcome Fellow - coworking space with FAB coffee 'n Donut Fridays... plus Connecting Things COS 'n music nights 'n workshops 'n CarWindowPoetry Honesty Tuesdays 'n what else? (geesh I think there was even a wedding in this space?!)

http://www.holdfastcoffeeco.com/

#thiscoffeecommunity I can't keep up with all the circles or convergences or collab's or whatever else is going on, but I am trying my darndest I'll tell you what hah?!

link to Sprudge Live - Day Two - Regionals in Austin, TX - where you can find Eliza Lovette presenting her espresso 'n signature beverage or short sigbev (that on that Saturday of local Competition Coffees got to try her sigbev at Story Coffee in the tiny house by Acadia Park?!)

http://sprudgelive.com/?p=11862

8th Stop, more or less hah, at Loyal Coffee Shop...
in order to try to catch the roaster Seth, who missed out on Saturday's taste comparison at the roastery in IvyWildSchool - plus was it Bevin in for the day, so he got to have a taste as well 'n I think Chris somewhere along the way (plus had another taste with Eliza at Welcome Fellow hah?! 'n Chris is also on Sprudge Live as a Tech Judge--can you keep up? no wonder I can't either hah?!) in fact Bevin may have been the one to mention that tea taste again to his tastebuds (so you can see am a bit out of order, since I put all 3 stops to Building Three Coffee Roaster together--to make things easier hah?!)

Wait--I did not have the Geisha's as a pourover here... had them again as an espresso, side by side, now where's that photo in my phone hah?! only Tyler's Geisha was all dialed in here at the shop - while Seth tried on a first shot to dial in my Geisha 'n that's not the easiest thing to do so the taste was different (tho still Happy Tastebuds no matter how it's been brewed up to drink?!) If I find the photo will insert later... too many coffees... a good problem to have, am not complaining...

Link again to Loyal Coffeeshop 'n Roaster...

http://loyalcoffee.co/

and besides finding Tyler Hill @thuhtyler on Instagram there is the Roaster Seth too...
@CoffeeSeth

9th Stop 'n sorry again, not the baristas/owners but only the traveling Geisha coffee 'n again as a pourover here at #InertiaCoffee

I love their science beakers for coffee cups, still glass, still better than paper or plastic for tasting...
'n I must remember to return after they roast up the Monsoon Indian Coffee, that I've only heard about 'n have not tried yet (another time, another coffee... always a coffee adventure or coffee experiment just around the corner--Yay?!)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I tried to make 2 more Stops - Stop 10 & 11, but I missed the owner/manager/barista for both shops 'n then it snowed... so today I made my own at home pourover finally with the last of the beans... (but take note I did not use them all in that end of the bag of lovely beans, so if there's enough I will return to Evan at Switchback 'n hope there's enough for a Last Espresso... sigh... I'll sleep on that, Esmeralda Geisha espresso... mmm....)
and since it's also Fat Tuesday or Mardi Gras or Carnivale 'n it's snowing
I had my attempt at a pourover with my kalita cone 'n lil blade grinder 'n broke out the lil excuses for mini beignets as well with my 'haul' of beads from Saturday's Carnivale/Mardi Gras Parade up in Manitou Springs, CO (btw I've lived in Lafayette 'n NOLA isn't far, so I'd been to a few 'real' Mardi Gras Parades--but still all in all it was cute 'n it was better than nothing!!) So I put on the Mardi Gras Music on YouTube 'n drank my Panama Esmeralda Geisha with my lil chocolate filled tiny beignets 'n remembered Mardi Gras Season of past years with a lovely juicy rainbows 'n unicorns playing on my taste buds... sigh... helped me make it thru a Snow Day or Snow Shower Day 'n it's not done yet... sigh... will look fwd to further Rainbows 'n Unicorns from Talor 'n Jorgen in Oslo, Norway!!
a rainbow unicorn to end, even better than Rainbows 'and' Unicorns, hah?! just All-in-One!!
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEbYuHWPVQ5yvaAz_r1aqXQ
If only I still lived in Stavanger, Norway I would be making as many trips as I could to Oslo to drink coffee or to buy coffee or to eat donuts 'n when they open up a coffeeshop I will be so jelly of all who are still there... sigh... but one day, could go visit still... outta the airport 'n directly to Talor 'n Jorgen's Coffeeshop hah?! (where ever it ends up being, we'll know by this Fall--is it November they're shooting for? and in their new offices as of today I think it was moving day?!)
And next Christmastime or soon after our US Thanksgiving, go sign up for a Coffee Swap from overseas, across the pond, International, Global 'n share your local coffee with someone who would probably never ever get to find it or try it... 'n it's so fun to find out where your coffee comes from 'n not know when it will come (or sadly in some cases--if it will ever come, tho I've been lucky for 2 years now?!) Plus, folks usually add other lil treats like say chocolates or other candies 'n a nice card/postcard/note inside with the coffee...
Little Side Story...
so, when my box arrived, the mailman brought it to the door... usually they put packages in the mail kiosk down the street with a key left in your regular mail box above the bigger boxes in order to unlock it to get your package... but this box was brought to the door so I could sign the slip and that way too the mailman got to tell me his story of how the box had gone back undelivered at first to the post office because someone wasn't able to read it... he told me his wife was German so he could read the address 'n notes 'n also knew that the numbers were written differently so say the Number 1's in my street address looked more like lower case L's - which was why it wasn't delivered earlier he told me... I was so happy to see this box, I knew it was my Secret Santa Coffee Swap Box right off when it was from Germany... I told the postman how happy I was to see it 'n that I knew it was my coffee box from way back at Christmas time...
And so I think I made him happy too, he was happy to deliver it, that he could read the address in German and get it to me - he probably told his wife as well and she was probably happy to hear that... I repeated my little postman story over on Facebook for the Third Wave Wichteln Group because I think they get some unhappy posts about how someone didn't get their coffee, which really as it was mid-February I had pretty much given up hope too - tho I'd read in the past that folks had gone as far as the end of February to get their December shipped coffee swap boxes... and who knows why, the different countries postal services or going through customs or whatever else may fall out along the way shipping packages--delivery notices not answered or returned back to sender then not forwarded out again or someone picks up the box on a doorstep or on 'n on the guesses could go...
I was just happy this year to receive a surprise box, tho as I've said to the group am unhappy that my box doesn't seem to have made it's way to the address in Taiwan 'n I can't seem to find the person's name on Facebook or in the Wichteln Group either - which does happen, as well as sadly that some folks sign up to do the Int'l Coffee Swap/Exchange and then don't open their e-mails to say who they are to Send their Coffee to?! (I can't imagine, that was not my case either year--last year I was lucky to receive my coffee and to see that my coffee was also received to China I think it was last year that I had to send my coffee box to...)
All in all it's still fun to see all the coffees from all the coffee roasters from all the coffeeshops All Over the World pop up on the group's Facebook Group Page or over on Instagram... OK, it's not a cheap nor effortless thing to do, but it's for Secret Santa Fun 'n I've loved it last year and this year and will do it again hah?!
translated what I could for the Tasting Notes...
"fragrant floral notes... Jasmine, Cherry, Exotic Fruit"
and then was curious what the AB Plus rating was all about so went a Googling to find out...
link to what Espresso Coffee Guide has to say about Kenya Coffee Grading, exp the AB Coffee...
https://espressocoffeeguide.com/gourmet-coffee/arabian-and-african-coffees/kenya-coffee/kenya-coffee-grading/
Specifications for Kenya AB Coffee
"Kenya AB coffee beans consist of both A and B coffee beans. The A grade is sorted using a 6.8 mm screen while the B grade is sorted using a 6.2 mm screen. These two types of beans, A and B, are mixed together to form the grade Kenya AB.
Though not as highly-valued as Kenya AA, Kenya AB is also popular and rates as a premium coffees. Typically the Kenya AB grade is the most plentiful in a particular consignment and is used as a representation of the other grades."
my candy treats - first off 'n first opened/eaten a tiny chocolate covered fig from Spain via Germany...
and the other candy treat--a chocolate bar by Dolfin of Caramel with salted butter I believe... (then I looked it up on their webpage 'n they describe it as: butterscotch caramel... mmm... no matter what you call it, still yummy!!)
Link to Dolfin's Chocolates Webpage 'n to their description of this candybar...
I may have seen this brand in an all candy shop, back in The Woodlands, Texas at the Mall - tho I don't think I've ever tried it before (for some odd reason hah?!) hmm... am thinking it was in Lolli and Pops Candyshop... so in any case, this chocolate bar made in Belgian was forwarded to me from Germany in my multi-country Secret Santa Coffee Box this year, love it!!
Oh no, went to look 'n I find there's a Lolli and Pops Candyshop at Park Meadows Mall in Lonetree, CO on the way to Denver - between Castle Rock 'n Denver, as I drive from Colorado Springs... (I cannot stop there, too much temptation hah?! but luckily there's a lot of coffee over there so can stop for that instead Yay?!)
last bite hah?! almost forgot to take a pic of the actual chocolate inside...
